A sample taken in the same way as for human donation

Our veterinary bone tissue donation program aims to provide this exceptional biomaterial in a safe and ethical manner. Donor pets are rigorously selected by our partner veterinarians based on the following criteria:
- Obtaining informed consent from the animal's owner upon its death,
- Safety criteria regarding vaccinations and medical history

Equine bone tissue comes from slaughter animals, ensuring complete traceability.

A safe and ethical animal bone tissue bank

How does the process work and how is consent obtained?

• If an owner has chosen to accept the donation on behalf of their animal, they can inform their veterinarian or healthcare team of their consent.

• If the animal has no contraindications for becoming a donor, the tissue will be collected by the same veterinarian, who has been trained in tissue collection by the tissue bank.

• The collection is carried out within 24 hours of death. This procedure is performed with care and compassion, and only the tissue strictly necessary for future bone grafts will be collected.

• The collected tissue, accompanied by the donor file, is sent to the tissue bank. This unique facility is responsible for processing the tissue using the same methods as those used for human tissue, thereby obtaining sterile bone grafts that can be stored for several years.

• Veterinary surgeons who need to operate on an animal can then contact the tissue bank to obtain bone grafts from the species they are treating.
